Mariska Hargitay Wants to Perform on Broadway!
According to NY Magazine, television star Mariska Hargitay, who recently showed off her voice in NBC's 'Brotherhood of Man' commercial, would like to take her talents to the stage. She told NYM: "It's been my secret dream to be on Broadway, so this is my foray."
She added on the commercial: "When they asked me to do it, they sent me the Amy Poehler clip, and she was killing it! I loved her! So I thought, 'Oh my God, Amy can sing, and I don't sing,' and I've never been more scared."

Diane Neal and Stephanie March Return!
"SVU" alumnae Stephanie March and Diane Neal will return to the series in its upcoming 13th season, reprising their respective roles as assistant district attorneys Alexandra Cabot and Casey Novak, NBC said. It's unclear how many episodes of the season the pair will appear on.
March left the show as a full-timer early in the fifth season in 2003, but returned in a handful of episodes over the years. Her character's replacement, played by Neal, prosecuted bad guys for five seasons until 2008, but returned in an episode earlier this year.
Last month, NBC said "Chase" actress Kelli Giddish and "Cold Case" actor Danny Pino had signed on to become the series' new detectives, following the departure of Meloni, who shared top billing with Hargitay. Ice-T, who has played Det. Odafin "Fin" Totuola since Season 2, recently signed on for at least two more seasons."

"Reports of Mariska Hargitay's absence from "Law & Order: SVU" this season were apparently exaggerated. She's still cutting back to spend more time with her family, and the show will still feature two new detectives in Danny Pino and Kelli Giddish, but an NBC spokesperson says Hargitay will still appear in every episode. Just not, perhaps, in almost every scene as she sometimes has in the past."
SVU's Mariska Hargitay Here To Stay
SVU loyalists need not worry!
Embarking on its thirteenth season, Law & Order: SVU will introduce two new characters played by Kelli Giddish and Danny Pino.
Pino is the replacement for exiting star Christopher Meloni, and while Kelli Giddish will play the new girl, Mariska Hargitay isn't going anywhere!
…but up, that is. The star's character will receive a promotion in the upcoming season, and is promised to appear in every episode.
Her role will switch from leading to supporting, but this is all good news for Hargitay.
No, really. She actually requested a reduced role so she could spend more quality time with her newly adopted baby girl!
Aww! Don't worry little one, momma's almost done interrogating rapists!

Stephanie March and Diane Neal Will Return to 'SVU'
(RTTNews) - "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" has confirmed that both Stephanie March and Diane Neal will return to the show next fall. The pair play Assistant District Attorneys Alexandra Cabot and Casey Novak, respectively, and have both appeared in full-time and part-time slots on the show.
March and Neal join a host of new talent on the show including former "Chase" star Kelli Giddish and "Cold Case" regular Danny Pino. They have both signed on to appear as regulars on the cop drama and will step in for Chris Meloni, who is leaving the show, and Mariska Hargitay, who will have a decreased role next season.
"I'm very pleased that we have two amazing actors joining the cast. I know this combination will give us the opportunity to explore the world of SVU with new eyes," says series creator Dick Wolf in a statement.

'Law & Order: SVU News: Danny Pino and Kelly Giddish Sign Up As New Leads!
Meloni left the hit series after 12 seasons due to failed salary negotiations. Hargitay on the other hand, will work part-time to concentrate with her growing family. After screening several actors, the network announced on Monday their new detectives on the show. And they will be former “Cold Case” supporting star Danny Pino and “Chase” star Kelli Giddish.
NBC Entertainment chief Bob Greenblatt said in a statement announcing their casting,”Kelli and Danny are two great actors who will join a proven cast headed by Mariska Hargitay as this exceptional series heads into a very promising 13th season.
But the big question remains, are they as qualified as Meloni and Hargitay?
Pino, an Emmy nominee had starred in 151 episodes of “Cold Case” as Det. Scotty Valens from 2003-2010. His character crossed over into an episode of “CSI: NY.” He was also on “The Shield” and starred in a TV movie called “NYPD 2069.” So, clearly, he’s no stranger to the cop genre.
But how about Kellie? Giddish had a guest star appearance on “SVU” in 2007, and one on “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” that same year. She also worked the medical side of the crime genre as the star of the short-lived drama, “Past Life.” She was last seen as star of “Chase” before its cancellation.
But can they live up to the high expectations of SVU fans?

Confirmation: Mariska is leaving midseason and is unsure if she will be back for season 14. Therefore, Olivia Benson will be "promoted" and another detective will step in. It is unclear if Chris Meloni has signed a contract for season 13 yet.
Mariska Hargitay: NBC Upfronts & 'Too Big to Fail' Premiere
Mariska Hargitay hits the red carpet at two different events in New York City on Monday (May 16).
The 47-year-old actress attended the 2011 NBC Upfronts held at the Hilton Hotel in support of her show, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Later in the day, Mariska’s hubby, Peter Hermann, joined her for the premiere of HBO’s Too Big to Fail, held at MoMA in NYC, where Mariska wore a Vera Wangdress.
Mariska told Access Hollywood that her character, Olivia Benson, will take on a different role toward the second half of the season. “I’m going to go into a different position, which is very exciting,” she dished, adding, “It’ll be quite challenging and different, but I think it’s exciting.”
Mariska is cutting her hours to spend more time with her little ones.

Rosie Perez Sues Law & Order: SVU- Induced Neck Injuries
It's been a rough week for Law & Order: SVU fans: first, rumors have been swirling that star Mariska Hargitay might be replaced by Jennifer Love "Vajazzle" Hewitt (no!), and now, Rosie Perez is suing the show's production companies over injuries she received while filming a guest spot in 2009. Chung chung!
The actress suffered several herniated discs in her neck after being "forcibly shaken" by an extra during a scene she filmed for her Season 11 episode "Hardwired." The injured discs have required two serious-sounding surgeries (one of which involved translating bone marrow from pelvis into her vertebrae), and have kept Perez out of work for over a year, according to her attorney, who also says that Perez is "still suffering severe pain, numbness of the arms, and [will] never be the same despite the surgery." Her lawyer also adds that the extra isn't at fault, "He was just doing what he was told to do. He was the wrong person at the wrong place at the wrong times."
Last year, the actress attended a gala event at the White House in a wheelchair and a neck brace, prompting President Obama to tell her that she's "not that good" at doing her own stunts.
Here's a look at classic Perez, pre-injury, busting mad moves in the best opening credit sequence ever filmed:

Would you watch 'Law and Order: SVU' without Mariska Hargitay (What if Jennifer Love Hewitt replaced her?)
With Law & Order: Los Angelesofficially rebooted into oblivionand Law & Order: Criminal Intenthalfway through its final season, we are fast approaching a cultural moment that once seemed unthinkable: a TV landscape with only one Law & Order series still in production. But Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has always been the impervious panzer tank of the franchise; while its brethren vacillated through various cast changes, the SVU team has essentially held steady since the show debuted in 1999. (There were more cast shake-ups in one miserable season of LOLA than in over a decade of SVU.)
Not even the SVU juggernaut is immune to the ravages of time, though, and it looks like series star Mariska Hargitay will be stepping back from the series in its upcoming 13th season.Apparently the actress (who recently adopted a baby) had asked for a lighter work-week. In a conference call with reporters on Sunday, NBC President Robert Greenblatt explained that, to make up for less Hargitay, “There is going to be another detective coming in halfway through the season.” Greenblatt admitted that Hargitay’s future with the show was a bit unclear — she’s only contracted through the next season — so it’s entirely possible this new detective could be a stealth replacement.* And rumors are currently swirling around one name in particular to step into SVU: Jennifer Love Hewitt, who guest-starred on the show earlier this year as a rape victim.
Greenblatt simply noted that Hewitt “is someone we’ve been circling. I don’t know that’s coming to pass or not.” Reps for Hargitay did not respond to calls for comment, while a representative for Hewitt told EW, “There have been discussions with SVU, but there is no deal in place, nor are there any negotiations ongoing at this time.” Still, the mere fact that therehave been discussions is certainly notable. Unlike the other shows in the L&O franchise, much of the appeal of SVU rests in its two leads. Heck, when you think about it, even earlier iterations of L&O weren’t exactly cast-proof; the Mothership never really recovered from the loss of Jerry Orbach, and Criminal Intent didn’t win much approval when it implemented the Goldblum Solution (although I kinda dug it).
Would Hargitay be replaceable? And, perhaps more to the point, could she be replaced by someone completely different, like Jennifer Love Hewitt? Putting aside the inherent weirdness of imagining the ’90s teen idol in the monochromatic Law & Order universe, Hewitt did work steadily on a procedural for five seasons. But that procedural was Ghost Whisperer, which had a tone that was pretty far removed from SVU‘s gonzo-apocalyptic vibe. PopWatchers, would you want to see someone like Hewitt swoop into SVU? Or would the show die for you without Benson?
*Fun bonus for L&O fans: When Greenblatt was asked about the possibility of a new Law & Order series, the NBC prez indicated that nothing was currently being planned. “Anything’s possible if the right idea comes through the door,” he said, sounding very much like a man who just ordered a new deadbolt.

Mariska Hargitay: Learning to Parent Two Kids is a 'New Skill'
Mariska Hargitay handles the toughest situations as detective Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
But adding another child to her brood – she and husband Peter Hermann adopted daughter Amaya Josephine in April, joining big brother August, 4½ – is a challenge like no other, she tells PEOPLE.
“It’s a new skill to have two children that want you at the same time,” Hargitay told PEOPLE Tuesday her foundation’s event, How Will You Join? The Joyful Revolution 4th Annual Gala to benefit theJoyful Heart Foundation.
While Hargitay has spoken of the joy Amaya brings her, she also doesn’t gloss over the work it takes.
“Sometimes … I wanted to rip my hair out,” she says. “Where I’m like, ‘August! Amaya! August! Amaya!’ You don’t know what to do.”
“So … [it's my] first time with two-children syndrome and I’m trying to figure it all out. But so far everyone’s been pretty good.”
Amaya, she says, is “spectacular. She is dreamy. I am not going to lie: It was very difficult leaving the house tonight. It’s very difficult leaving the house anytime with my baby at home. But for this it’s worth it.”
Worth it in part, she says, because of ”the statistics of nearly four children [dying] every day in this country due to child abuse and neglect,” as well as the startling prevalence sexual assault that her foundation is working to change.
Hargitay needn’t worry too much about leaving home, though, with August to watch over his baby sister.
“He is so protective,” she says. “He is a little bit like the gate-keeper of her. He’s been really amazing … so affectionate. He says, ‘I’m going to be her protector.’ And something else. Teacher. Guider and protector. She gets a lot of kisses.”
The actress, 47, isn’t just suffering from two-child syndrome. She’s also got a hit show to worry about. But she says she’s going to start slowly reducing her role to find more balance in her life.
“I’m so madly in love and married to my show,” she says. “This foundation has come out of it. But it’s been very difficult for me with two kids, so what I wanted this year in terms of my deal was lifestyle issues … I needed more time with my kids. So I will be working a little bit less and eventually getting a little promotion, so we are going to bring on a new detective.”

Law and Order: SVU Scoop: Hargitay Inks New Deal, Jennifer Love Hewitt May Succeed Her
Just in time for NBC’s upfront presentation on Monday, Law & Order:SVU star Mariska Hargitay has closed a new deal to return for its upcoming 13th season — but there’s a catch.
Around midseason, Hargitay’s Olivia Benson will pass the baton on to a new female detective — possibly played by Jennifer Love Hewitt. Meanwhile, SVU‘s leading man Christopher Meloni still has no deal for next season.
Going into the contract negotiations, Hargitay had asked to scale back her workload on the show. The producers granted her request, reducing her hours but keeping her salary roughly the same at $385,000 an episode. For the first 13 episodes, Hargitay’s character will continue to solve sex crimes alongside Elliot Stabler, pending Meloni closing his deal. Then Benson will be promoted to a supervisor position, with a new female detective taking her place. That is the role that producers are eying for Hewitt, who, ironically, guest-starred on SVU last fall as a rape victim.
As for Meloni, whose current salary is the same as Hargitay’s, I hear the actor is seeking a raise. Talks with NBC, however, are moving slowly, so it doesn’t look like he will have a deal before NBC’s upfront. The last time Hargitay and Meloni’s contracts were up two years ago they didn’t sign new pacts until the end of June.

Mariska Hargitay: Daughter Amaya 'Soothes My Heart'
The adoption of daughter Amaya Josephine one month ago was the missing puzzle piece for the Hargitay-Hermann family.
“It’s very soothing to the heart,” Mariska Hargitaytold PEOPLE Wednesday at the Good Shepherd Services Spring Gala in New York. “I feel like she really completed our little family of four.”
Of course, it helps that the newborn has a tranquil personality thus far.
“You never know what you’re going to get with the second baby and so I was sort of nervous about it,” the Law & Order: SVU star, 47, laughs. “She’s so zen and so peaceful. I can’t quite believe how easy she’s been — her disposition.”
“She’s not fussy, she doesn’t cry much … she’s just very peaceful,” adds Hargitay. “I feed her, she sleeps. It’s pure magic. I feel very blessed.”
Big brother August, 4½, is especially helpful and enjoys assisting Mom with Amaya’s bottles.
“Today I actually took [Amaya] to pick him up from school,” Hargitay shares. “He was very excited when he introduced her to all of his classmates. It’s very sweet, he’s very proud of her.”

Mariska Hargitay Sues William Morris Endeavor Over 'SVU' Commissions
Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay has sued her former agents at William Morris Endeavor, claiming the agency is trying to collect a commission on her earnings after she parted ways with WMA.
In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in state court in New York, Hargitay claims WME wants money from Seasons 11 and 12 of SVU, even though her deal for those seasons was negotiated after she and her primary agent departed in the wake of the WMA-Endeavor merger.
Hargitay, who moved from UTA to WME in 2002, says she signed a one-year contract giving the agency 10 percent of her SVU salary. That deal expired in 2004 but WME continued to represent the actress until she followed her agent Erwin More to Paradigm in 2009, according to the lawsuit.
Now WME is alleged to have filed a demand for arbitration this month, claiming it is entitled to commissions on the 11th and 12th seasons of SVU, a deal that was negotiated after Hargitay ended her relationship with the agency, according to the petition to stay the arbitration.
"WME bases its claims on the long-expired WMA Agreement -- to which it was not a party, and which was never assigned to it -- and a purported implied or oral contract which it contends arose between WMA and Ms. Hargitay," alleges the lawsuit, filed by Leonard Steinman and Khianna Bartholomew at New York's Blank Rome and Dale Kinsella and Laura Castner at Santa Monica's Kinsella Weitzman.
We've reached out to WME for comment. UPDATE: A rep for the agency says it does not comment on litigation.
